A Gorgeous Papa Kona Wedding at Kailua Bay

Ulu is from Hawaii, so he and Elvira chose Kailua Kona as the location for their Big Island Wedding even though they don’t live here in Hawaii. They wanted to celebrate their marriage while including their Hawaii family and friends, and Papa Kona was the perfect venue!

At Papa Kona, you can get married on the adjacent ocean-front lawn (small and intimate with the waves lapping just behind you), then go upstairs for your reception to a private reception area on the top deck (open air seating as well as a dance floor inside). There is a beach with distinctive black lava nearby, which makes for stunning photos. At the rooftop reception, the guests can mingle, eat, drink, and watch the sunset as it slips below the horizon. There is a glossy wooden dance floor, lots of glass windows to open up the space. The food was delicious. I was actually thinking about it for days . . so good.

Papa Kona provides an event manager who made sure everything flowed smoothly, improving the experience for everyone (including me)! Everyone knew exactly what was going on and what would come next.

Kahu Tom was the wedding officiant (and did an absolutely amazing job). The guests were all surprised when he showed up again after dark with FIRE! He and Ulu did a bit of fire dancing together before Kahu Tom put on an amazing show.

BEHIND THE LENS

ABOUT

Capturing beauty and connecting with people brings me joy. A camera lets me do both!

I picked up a camera and the rest is history. I fell in love. The art of photography, the ability to connect with people, and the chance to do what I adore all inspire me. You can feel it when you're with me. Photography has been such a blessing in my life, and I want to pass that blessing on to you.
