Westin Hapuna: The Best Beach Backdrop for Family Photos

Sometimes when you get to a beautiful location (like the Westin Hapuna), you think, “Wow! We really should take some family photos here!”

I get a surprising number of last minute requests like this, and I have yet to photograph a family that regretted their spur-of the-moment decision. When you’re all together in paradise, why not capture it so you and your kids remember it forever? Hapuna is one of the beaches that makes you say, “Wow!”  

The water is turquoise, the sand is soft and white, and the sunsets are incredible. 

Sylvia also requested some shots in the “tunnel” of greenery that they walked through every day. The kids tossed a ball around and ran races on the beach. As the sun sunk low, everyone waded into the water, enjoying the crashing of the waves upon the rocks in the foreground as the sun glowed behind. I (as usual) tried to get some motion shots (people walking, tickling, cuddling, running or playing) as well as some classes “look at the camera” portraits.
