I recently had the joy of photographing Kylie’s senior session at Old Kona Airport Beach — and every photo turned out stunning. With golden light, sea breezes, and a location that gave us sand, trees, and lava rock, Kylie’s session was the perfect mix of natural beauty and personal style.

As a Big Island senior photographer, I love creating sessions that feel true to you. Whether you’re a local or just here on vacation, a session in Hawaiʻi can offer something truly special. From lush greenery to volcanic coastlines to dipping your toes in the water at sunset — it’s about capturing this season of your life in a way that’s artistic and unforgettable.
Visiting the Big Island from the mainland? Senior sessions can happen year-round — summer, fall, winter, or spring. It’s a great time to take advantage of Hawaii’s beauty and check senior portraits off your list while you’re here.
A few more tips:
- Bring one or two outfits, but think of something that will be easy to change into on the beach.
- Wear pastel or jewel colors, not black or dark colors (dark colors blend in with the lava rocks)
- If you’re planning on getting into the water, bring a towel and a change of clothes for the car (we will do the water shots at the end of the session)
- Bring cute shoes (for the “off the beaten path” areas and the lava rocks), but be prepared to kick them off as well
- Consider bringing fresh flowers or a fresh flower lei, they add a tropical touch to the photos
